Loco runs good and pulls up a 2% grade easily. Only one issue, will find any imperfection in your track work, as specially on grade curves. I think BLI should have not reduced the wheel flanges of the steam engines. These flanges are so important for tracking purposes on steam locomotives, not so on Diesels!
I thought it was something different but since I have a ho train set it's worked out it's cool thing
Delivered super fast! (Thanks MPW!) Still in the process of building this kit. This kit is fantastic for kit bashing as there is a lot of flexibility for changing this. For my space, I’m building this in reverse of the picture and plans, and was able to easily put the loading docks in a different location. But this flexibility comes at a cost - so many parts! Many very small, that each have to be filed and sanded. It is very challenging to get the parts to fit together with smooth seams. After gluing, I’m using spackle to fill a few gaps. There are also many white metal pieces that will have to be trimmed and filed. I would have preferred plastic parts. This kit is a lot of work and not for beginners, but will result in a great building if you’re willing to put in the time. I knocked off one star due to the high number of small parts.
A eye-catching one off paint job for AMTRAKs first day. KATO did a beautiful job with the paint work. The usual KATO solid performing mechanism. While I purchased the DC version, it would be easily converted to your choice of DCC system. Strongly recommend picking this model up soon.
